Disunity and Paucity

The opposition and administration camps are now frantically preparing for the May 2007 national and local elections. The Lakas-NUCD-led administration coalition party has been downplaying the opposition’s chances of winning, harping on the alleged disunity among them. Indeed, some opposition personalities have expressed their intention to run for the Senate with or without the endorsement of former President Estrada and the United Opposition. Be that as it may, the upcoming elections are worth watching as the administration is obviously bent on getting the majority in Congress to avoid any attempt to impeach President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo. Vigilance is therefore the key for concerned groups and individuals to ensure that elections, for a change, will be honest and orderly.

Salungguhit literally means to underline; figuratively, to underscore or highlight.
