‘STOP U.S.-LED WARS!’

Boy, left, contemplates his future as his eyes gaze the huge streamer with a scream, ‘Stop US-led Wars!’ during an anti-war rally in Plaza Miranda, Quiapo, Manila on Jan. 31.  Vice President Teofisto Guingona led the prayer-rally of thousands of church people, human rights activists, Filipino Muslims and other protesters who asked the country’s president to stop supporting George Bush’s unilateral attacks against Iraq as the anti-war movement continues to gain millions of supporters throughout the world. The protesters reclaimed Plaza Miranda – site of huge people power rallies in the ‘70s and which the Manila mayor has appropriated with a no-rally ban.
