Karapatan has documented 40 victims of extrajudicial killings since Aquino took office at a rate of one victim of extrajudicial killing per week. The group, together with other human rights advocates, will call the attention of the United Nations Human Rights Council on this issue.


Karapatan secretary-general Marie Hilao-Enriquez talks about the human-rights situation in the Philippines and how President Benigno S. Aquino III should deal with it. Enriquez was the first guest in a series of panel discussions, hosted by Kodao Productions’ Raymund Villanueva and Bulatlat.com’s Benjie Oliveros, on the key issues that progressive groups say President Aquino should address.
