A thinner Lito Bais, president of ULWU, told the gathered SONA protesters, in a hoarse voice, that farmers don’t think any change has occurred under Aquino. If there had been a change, it’s only a worsening of landgrabbing and land reconcentration to fewer hands.
Farmers graded Aquino’s first year as zero, he reiterated.
Bais cited as example the lands they are tilling in Tarlac, which are now subject to renewed spate of landgrabbing.
“Because the farmworkers can see no hope in Aquino, they have taken it in their hands to assert their right to the lands they are tilling,” he said.
“What to do with Noynoy?” Bais concluded that “Farmers tell him, you’ve been given a zero. You will be burned later today. Get off Malacanang!”
