Coming to Light The day breaks elegantly upon a spot in Limay, Bataan that used to be part of a military camp. With such light cast upon it, this piece of land hardly looks like the suspected burial site for Manuel Merino, the farmer who was abducted in 2006 in Bulacan together with UP students Karen Empeño and Sh erlyn Cadapan. This scene however could also be taken to symbolize the event in which so many horrors are now being exposed to the light of day. (Photo by Raymund Villanueva/Bulatlat.com)

‘Tong’ Collection?
‘Tong’ Collection? A taxi driver scratches the back of his head as he is accosted by policemen, who search his vehicle. The policemen do not seem to have anything on him but they search the taxi through and through. From the looks of it, this is a kotong (extortion) operation — a favorite activity of policemen assigned to traffic duty. (Photo by Ace Alegre/Bulatlat.com)

Enchanted Kingdom
Enchanted Kingdom. Philippine president Gloria Arroyo once boasted she will turn our country into an “Enchanted Kingdom.” If a story should be written about it, it should begin with “Once upon a time, in an abjectly poor country ruled by an evil and corrupt witch…” (Photo by Raymund Villanueva)
Family Trip
That a motorcycle can carry this many people at once is hard to imagine, but this family seems to have succeeded in pulling it off. Thus far they seem to be having a smooth ride and children are evidently exhilarated at getting to ride with their parents, even as their position calls for extra cautiousness.
