Indignation-al anthem

photo of the week shells

my fears were abolished
as you tried to write
a constitution in my heart,
parted it into four,
for my mother who is a mother
for my father who is a worker
for my sister who is a child
and for my brother who is a queer,
then you attached wings in it
and said I was meant
to attach wings on their hearts too,
that I was meant to share
what an unshackled life
has to offer

our vows were not enough
for me to let another leaves
of the calendar
fly into yesterdays,
our warm evenings together
were not enough
to tie our destiny,
as long as the world
revolves around its madness,
I will forever be meant
to fight for what my mother had sacrificed for
to work for what my father had wrought for
to teach what my sister cannot read
and to offer the embrace that my brother is deprived of

it saddens me to say
that my fate was
not written for
our endless touch,

though we feel each other’s longing
for our limbs to intertwine,
our hearts will always be
eternally glued
and will be at peace
to let go of the things
we must

we both sought for this,
as our hearts agreed
that you will be meant
to stomp and shout
on the road where our hearts
embraced and fought
for our stomachs
and million lives

and I will always be meant
for the stars and for
the color of blood
dedicated to struggle,
in the forces of nature,
to the reek of bones
brought by the system,
and die
with my arms unbound

my fears were abolished
as I think of you, my love,
as I think of how our hearts
will always be one,
as we come to the assertion
that we will meet
each other again
in another life.
