Revolutionary groups hail CPP’s 46th anniversary

Hundreds of members of revolutionary organizations under the National Democratic Front of the Philippines (NDFP) staged a lighting rally Dec. 19 to mark the 46th anniversary of the Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP).

With their faces covered, members of the Revolutionary Council of Trade Unions (RCTU), Katipunan ng Samahang Manggagawa (Kasama), Kabataang Makabayan (KM), Makabayang Kawaning Pilipino (MKP) held placards calling for armed revolution against the “rotten system.” They marched from Recto avenue to Avenida ave.

The protesters burned a US flag containing the pictures of US President Barack Obama and President Benigno Simeon Aquino III with the text: “Down with US-Aquino regime!”

In a statement, Juan de Mayo, RCTU spokesman, said, “The people’s war continues to gain strength. Because of the ever-worsening conditions in the country, more workers and oppressed masses are taking the path of revolutionary struggle, especially the armed struggle being waged by the New People’s Army.”

Founded on Dec. 26, 1968, the CPP wages an agrarian revolution with a socialist perspective.
