Labor Day 2011: A day of outrage (audio slideshow)

MANILA — Marking the 125th commemoration of International Working Peoples Day or Labor Day, various labor groups led by Kilusang Mayo Uno (KMU) staged the largest, broadest and longest protest dubbed as national “Day of Outrage” on May 1. An estimated 25,000 protesters in Metro Manila converged at the Liwasang Bonifacio and marched toward Mendiola bridge.

The groups denounced the Aquino regime’s refusal to grant a significant wage hike amidst rising prices of basic goods and services, especially petroleum products. The protesters also vowed to press ahead with the struggle for “genuine social change.” (http://bulatlat.com)
