News in Pictures: In Oslo, GPH and NDF Break a Six-Year Impasse
The government of the Philippines and the National Democratic Front of the Philippines resumed peace negotiations on Feb. 15, 2011, after a six-year impasse. Up in the talks is the second of the four substantive agenda, socio-economic reforms.

This morning’s session is expected to end at one in the afternoon, local time. Lunch follows at the hotel restaurant.
The media were given one minute to shoot videos and take pictures before being asked to leave the conference room. The agreed-upon news blackout is in force.
Ambassador Ture Lundh of the Norwegian Foreign Ministry asked GPH Panel Chair Padilla and NDFP Panel Chair Luis Jalandoni to shake hands before the start of the morning session on the second day of the peace talks here in Oslo.
Second day of talks starts at eleven am, an hour later than originally planned.

I support the peace talks because I believe that the armed conflict in the country can only begin to be resolved if the two sides, the two governments of the GPH and the NDFP, sit and talk and come up with solutions to the problems that precisely resulted in the conflict.

There is a delay at the start of the second day of the talks. Both panels were not ready and were not present at the conference hall at ten o’clock, the scheduled start of the second day of negotiations. Both GPH and the NDFP groups are inside their own secretariat rooms, presumably for more consultations before they start the morning session.
