[Slideshow] Where’s the Change?: Human Rights Violations Continue Under US-Aquino Regime

Protesters in Baguio City, mostly government workers and members of the Confederation and Unity for the Advancement of Government Employees (COURAGE), marched along Session Road to call for the freedom of the Morong 43 detainees and to demand justice for victims of human-rights violations during the commemoration of the International Human Rights Day.

In Davao City, more than 5,000 protesters marched to call for justice for all victims of human-rights violations. According to Karapatan, there are 109 cases of extrajudicial killings, 13 enforced disappearances, and 23 political prisoners in the Southern Mindanao Region under the Arroyo and Aquino administrations.

Thousands of protesters, led by various human-rights groups, marched from Welcome Rotunda in Quezon City to Don Chino Roces Bridge in Manila. Protesters condemn the worsening human-rights situation under the US-Aquino regime, citing the alarming number of extrajudicial killings, the continued detention of political detainees and the extension of Oplan Bantay Laya.

Relatives and supporters of the 43 detained health workers welcome the favorable pronouncement of Pres. Aquino to withdraw charges against the Morong 43. They consider the release of the Morong 43 as a response to the overwhelming clamor for justice and to the highest form of protest through hunger strike. (https://www.bulatlat.com)
