Ang antena mong pangkapkap
ay bolpen ng manunulat;
pagkapa’y dapat maingat
upang masundan, masilat
ang talinghagang mailap.

Ang Makata ay Tulad ng Ipis (II)
(pasintabi kina Axel Pinpin at Pia Montalban)

Katulad ng ipis ang mga makata at mamamahayag
Sa ating maligalig na panahon. Nakakatusok,
Nakakalatay, nakakasugat ang kanilang panulat
Laluna doon sa mga tiwali’t korap na ayaw
Mabunyag sa lahat ang kanilang baho’t abuso,
Ang kanilang pagiging panginoon na walang
Pinapanginoon. Tulad ng ipis, tinuturing silang
Peste. Pero saan nga ba nahuhumaling ang ipis?
Hindi ba’t sa bulok at at inuuod na ubod
Ng nagtatago sa dilim? Kaya kapag naamoy
Ng ipis at isiniwalat ito, gumaganti ang mga
Loko at tarantado: pinapalis nila ang ipis,
Tinitiris, kundi man pinapatay. Ngunit,
Tulad ng katauhan niya, hindi mawawala
Ang kanyang lahi, magunaw man ang mundo
O higupin man ng bomba atomika ang
Lahat ng kanyang mahihigop sa lugar
Na kanyang babagsakan, lalabas pa rin
Ang antenna ng ipis mula sa mga singit
Ng gusali at guho; mangangapa,
Dahan-dahang magkakapkap ng
Maaapuhap habang sa kanyang
Tabi ay isang sumisibol na ulo ng kaktus:
ang tuldok-mata ng bolpen ng manunulat
Na bumabalikwas upang muling magsulat.
