In a separate gathering on March 5, Duterte also endorsed Ocampo, citing the role of the progressive block in bringing the issues and sentiments of the people in and out of the mainstream politics.
Both Maza and Ocampo welcomed the endorsement and expressed their appreciation to Duterte.
“I thanked him for believing in my ability to continue the fight for women’s rights and equality in the senate. I will continue to carry the interest of the Davaoeneos to encourage local legislation on women’s rights and welfare, as exemplified by the administration of Mayor Duterte,” Maza said.
“I heartily thank Mayor Duterte for his personal commitment to me and to Rep. Liza Maza to support our senatorial candidacies under the MAKABAYAN.
