News in Pictures: Independent Watchdog to Monitor Poll Automation Launched

Advocates of credible and fraud-free elections launched the Kontra Daya 2010 campaign on Wednesday in Intamuros, Manila, urging Commission on Elections (Comelec) officials to conduct more field tests and mock polls amid voting public’s doubts on the automated election system (AES).

Kontra Daya has set up an online monitoring center where people can view results of the mock elections. Also, Konta Daya will field teams of volunteers nationwide to encourage the widest possible public participation in monitoring the conduct of the automated polls.

Konta Daya 2010 convenors include Archbishop Oscar Cruz, Bishop Elemer Bolocon, Fr. Joe Dizon, Mother Mary John Mananzan, Bibeth Orteza, Grace Poe-Llamanzares, Prof. Giovanni Tapang, Renato Reyes Jr., Henri Khan, Fred Pascual, Betina Legarda, Atty. Harry Roque and Ferdinand Gaite.
