Inilathala ng Bulatlat

Kung naging tingga at apoy ang ibinuga
Ng aking nilabit na pluma at tinta
Sa himagsikan kong nais ay pag-asang
Mahango ang bayang nasadlak sa dusa’y
Di na nagtagal pa ang digmang pakikibaka
Sa mga kumupot sa paglayang sinisinta.

Kung tumulad ako kay Andres Bonifaciong
Laging hasa’y tabak sa init ng ulo,
Disi’y naging iglap naming naipanalo
Ang labanang mundiyal ng tao sa tao
Na ang bawat isa’y siyang natatalo,
May mang-uumit pa kayang Pilipino?

A! marahil ako ay kinapos nitong tapang
Upang maging pluma’t papel ang kinalugdan,
Dahil sa panahong puso’y naninimbang
Kung kadalagahan ba o sa lungi kong bayan
Ang dapat unahin kaya ko pinagsabay
Igasang ang pluma’t imbing pagmamahal?

Kasalanan ko nga! Kalahi’y patawad
Kung ako’y binigyang-halaga’t pakultad
Sa nobelang gawang tanging nagpatanyag
Upang ang dayuha’y bumali-balikwas,
Ngunit napagtantong ito ay di dapat
Dahil nang lumao’y kayo ang nakahahabag.

Kung maibabalik ko lang ang panahon,
Noong ang bayan ta’y lablab ng linggatong;
Aking huhuranin maging sampung kanyon
Upang mangapuksa ang dungguting ilong —
Siguro bayan ko hintay nating dapithapo’y
Tulad ng isang along mabangis ang gulong.
