Guns and Goons. While the Ampatuan Massacre is shocking in its brazenness, it is still merely a symptom of a rotten electoral system which is characterized by the use of guns and gold. What happened in Ampatuan, Maguindanao on Nov. 23 may yet turn out to be just a preview of more electoral violence.
