Peasant Group Hits Solon for Likening GMA to Jesus Christ

Published on November 26, 2008

The Kilusang Magbubukid ng Pilipinas (KMP-Peasant Movement of the Philippines) lambasted Cebu Representative Pablo Garcia for likening Mrs. Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo to Jesus Christ.

Garcia said during Tuesday’s impeachment hearing that Jesus Christ and Arroyo were both crucified for scoring low in popularity polls.

Danilo Ramos, KMP secretary general, said, “The Cebuano congressman should review the bible first; everybody knows that Jesus Christ lived simply and with the poor, the peasants and fisherfolk, unlike Arroyo who lives lavishly and governs with corruption and coercion just to stay in power.”

Ramos said Arroyo could probably be Pontius Pilate or the Roman Emperor in the bible. “… [s]he governed through authoritarian rule.”

Ramos is a signatory to the latest impeachment complaint filed against Arroyo.

Ramos said, “It is very obvious that this is a battle between truth versus lies, justice versus oppression and tyranny, the poor and powerless against the rich and powerful. Jesus Christ is with us, the poor, the powerless, those who struggle for truth and justice, the victims of oppressive acts of government forces…”

Ramos said that the impeachment complaint and the current moves to amend the 1987 Philippine Constitution are connected. He said administration congressmen are pushing for charter change to cling on to their positions as their chances of being re-elected are very slim.

Ramos said, “We all know who becomes pleased when evil dominates: Lucifer is with them.”
