More alarming
The CRC said that while the issue of ‘child soldiers’ or ‘children associated with armed conflict’ has been given much attention by the international community, more alarming situations of children are being glossed over.
The group cited the massive evacuation of civilians in Mindanao. The CRC said at least 20,000 children from just three towns in North Cotabato had already been affected by the war as of Aug. 22.
Macaspac said the children survivors are suffering from psychosocial disturbances due to the conflict.
The group also condemned the US-instigated wars afflicting millions of children. “In Iraq, Afghanistan and even Palestine for example, millions of children have been killed, maimed, abducted, etc. as a result of the war of terror of imperialists or imperialist-backed regimes.” (Bulatlat.com)
