Unlikely Mix

The camera-shy pin vendor was caught by Bulatlat’s camera at the July 19 rally of the broad Women for Macapagal-Arroyo’s Removal and Regime Change (Women MARCH) along Ayala Avenue in Makati City, while showing his wares around. The piece of cloth he is dangling places President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo and the late actor Fernando Poe, Jr. – the closest opponents in the 2004 presidential race – side by side. There are also two pins bearing the logo of the progressive party-list group Bayan Muna (People First), which is pushing for Macapagal-Arroyo’s exit from office. In the highly-charged Philippine politics, vendors also make a killing.
